Her parents are psychologist and owner of an local ice-cream parlor. When her parents separated in 1990, she enrolled at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut and earned a BA in Comparative Arts. At the beginning of her career, she had just 12 years old when she appeared on stage in an opera production entitled "Amahl's Night Visitor". McCormack continued to perform in the theatre before landing a role both on the small screen and on the large screen. McCormack is today regarded as one of Hollywood's best artists. She is the mother of three children with her husband, producer/director Michael Morris.
